New Balance sneakers have long been a sneaker coveted by certified sneaker heads. It has a track record for being one of the ultimate retro kicks brands (a spot also held by Adidas). In fact, I had a pair of navy blue 574 New Balances back in the ninth grade. Forget about it! Back then, Brooklyn, Redhook - those were the sneakers to have. We were wearing Jordans but the cool kids with style had the New Balances (me – I was a cool kid).

Fast forward to 2023, and I never imagined New Balances would be a brand coveted by Instagram’s It Girls. But here we are. “Boyish” and retro sneakers have been coveted by the It Girls for some time now. Nowadays, they’re even wearing Nike Dunk Highs and Dunk Lows. Street style is in. So, it’s no wonder the grey New Balance 990v5 have become so popular.

These sneakers have a great shape. I love the curves. They look the best on small feet (though not every best-selling sneaker does!). Being neutral grey, you can wear them with just about any color palette. But the New Balance 990v5 in grey really shines with muted and neutral palettes: grey, taupe, ivory, khaki, accented with denim blue textures and black leather motorcycle jackets (hey! Are you taking notes?! This is a certified It Girl outfit!).

But at a whopping $184.99, these sneakers are not accessible for everyone. Enter DHGate. 

Now, mirror image sneakers are not easy to come by online. You have to know a seller. And websites like DHGate and AliExpress are not known for high end or mirror image dupes. But once in a while, you will find a sneaker that is not that difficult to replicate. Furthermore, it’s said that some replicas are manufactured by the same facilities that produce the original brand version.

Now, only a fan of New Balances (I mean, an expert) can see the flaws in these sneakers. That’s because they’re hard to find!

Except for this flaw in the way the fabric sticks out above... That doesn't look too good...

Otherwise, the reflectors, the logo, the stitching, the quality of the material, the form, the color – all of it is on point. The flaws in these DHGate New Balances are hard to find. However, I invite you guys to point them out in the comments below!
