W2C Where to buy Dupe MSCHF Astro Boy Big Red Boots
It never occurred to me that this obscure brand of weird boots would be faked. But it makes sense because these boots went wildly viral. Indie fashion influencers have been showing off their gifted Astro Boots and celebrities have been filmed struggling to take off these cartoonish boots on social media. But it’s easy to see why they’ve become so popular: they’re a fun statement piece. And they fall in line with the oversized rubber style of boots that were made popular by the Kanye and Balenciaga collaboration.

Well, ugly or not, these are the shoes of the moment and you can thank you lucky stars that they’ve been replicated and are available on AliExpress, DHGate, and Taobao.
But here’s the biggest problem…
Because the boots are still so new to the replica market, there are very few listings with real customer review photos!
Correction, there are very listings with customer review photos that have be posted by actual customers...
First, let's see what the actual Astro Boy dupes really look like. I got this video from a Chinese factory that makes the exact boots in this video...
You can buy these exact boots here.
I think these dupes look pretty good. However, if you know the real boots, then you'll remember that there is no visible seam running down the boots. However, play the above video again and you'll notice the seam down the front of the shoe.
I don't think it takes away from the look at all. And the prices I've seen on some of the replica listings for the MSCHF Astro Boy boots are reasonable. The retail price for the authentic ($350) is not worth it in my opinion because you will not wear these boots often at all! This a trendy style and they're inconvenient to take on and off!
Back to what I was saying before, though. The main problem with the listings for the dupe Astro Boy boots is that because production on these shoes is fairly new, there are very few customer review photos! So, if you're searching for Astro Boy Dupes, the main problem you'll run into are...
- Listings with fake customer review photos.
- Product listings with lots of customer reviews that were not originally for the Boots (for instance, sellers will convert old listings for other shoes into a listing for the MSCHF boots).
Here's how not to get scammed on DHGate for the Astro Boy boots.
Below, you'll find examples of listings with fake customer review photos and listings that were converted into Astro Boy Boots (for listings of the latter, all of the customer reviews will be for the original product the listing was originally made for!)...
This listing above clearly shows that they're selling dupe Astro Boy boots...
... but when you scroll down to the customer review photos, you can see that the most recent review is for Yeezy slides. Before this listing was turned into a listing for the MSCHF boots, the seller was previously using the listing for Yeezys. But to attract buyers of the Astro Boy boots, they used an old listing that already had customer reviews. This is because most DHGate buyers prefer to buy products that are already positively reviewed by other customers.
Now, let's look at a listing that has fake customer review photos of the MSCHF boots...
The listing above says it has 5-star customer reviews. You would hope that one of those 5-star reviews comes with real customer review photos...
... but the only review to come with a photo has an image that was taken from the brand's advertisement of the boots.
So, yeah...
But, there's a simple way to make sure you're not getting scammed: just ask the seller for photos of the boots! Most DHGate sellers are decent and they will send you photos from the factory or they will send you photos of the item they personally have in stock.
